The Technology Department has recently installed 2 new computers for the elementary classrooms and several in the lab. Students are enrolled in a program designed specifically for the TEKS in every grade level. This year the program is online so students can access the lessons and practice sessions from a variety of locations, including at home!
The computers are equipped with new software specifically designed for each level from Kindergarten through to grade 6. The software program helps students become technology literate as well as enhance productivity, communication skills, research skills, problem solving capacity, and decision making abilities. Students are guided by a charming array of animated characters as lessons are presented in a fun, interactive format that keeps students motivated.
Elementary programs are divided into sections each with several lessons of varying difficulty. The following describes the unit sections:
Computer Basics-builds an awareness of computer etiquette, safety, and ethics.
Keyboarding-teaches students to type letters, symbols, and numbers.
Word Processing-shows students how to key and format text.
Drawing and Graphics-demonstrates techniques for importing and creating fun visuals.
Gadgets-describes how to operate printers, scanners, digital cameras, and handhelds.
